Metronome for Poly-Rhythm

metronome

This is a very flexible metronome, it offers many rhythms such as 2/4, 3/4, 4/4; you can also add quavers, semiquavers, triplets as well as swing (last triplet played) and dotted rhythm (last semiquaver played). The clue is, you can superimpose a second rhythm to practise 2 against 3, etc. It comes with a basic visualisation. Free for private use.

If you have Java 7, try it by clicking here. If you have Java 6 (which would apply to most Mac users), try it by clicking here.

I noticed that on Linux (OpenSuse 11.4 or 12.1 with Java 6 or 7) only a few sounds work (hit hat, snare, bass drum, the lower numbers 35-52). If you want to experiment, here is a version for Java 7 with all possible percussion instruments.

I am looking into porting the metronome to Android phones. Sadly, that's more difficult than expected since Android does not support MIDI.
